We started crowdsourcing answers before the term was invented — way back in 1999.
Inspired by the observation that the decision-making process often lacks valuable input, Paul Verhaeghe, former director of McKinsey, Baldo Faieta, mathematician at Carnegie Mellon University, and Joanne Celens, former international manager at Shell, created the Synthetron solution that uses the Internet to facilitate structured discussions with large groups.
Synthetron has started commercializing the first releases of its product since December 2003 after a research and development phase that began in early 1999 under the development name VPSE. The founders drew on their extensive experience with management processes and the development of collaborative internet-based solutions in Silicon Valley.
At the end of 2005, Synthetron expanded its offerings outside the Benelux and includes multinationals, banks, companies and consultants.
In the Synthetron software, all written messages must be evaluated by other participants. The messages are first sent to 4 other participants; if they strongly agree, the message goes' viral 'to other participants in steps.
Because participants review each other's messages, they provide each other with answer options, so you get a much more complete picture than with ordinary open questions in a survey.
In almost all dialogues, there are things that are not easy to say. Maybe because they're critical, controversial, or just feeling a little bit embarrassing. We know from experience that anonymity improves the truth and depth of dialogue.

We've had discussions with 6 participants, but they work best if you have more. 30 is a good minimum number to aim for, although smaller groups also make sense when discussing sensitive topics.
We do not store any personal information. For our software to work, we generate a unique ID for each user that is completely random, and we store a cookie on your device. This is to ensure that if you lose the connection, you can pick up where you left off.
All participants receive a random identification code by the system. We don't know who someone is. What we do know is what each code number (a single anonymous participant) did, so we can look for patterns related to segments.

Absoluut! Synthetron is een wereldwijd platform dat ondersteuning biedt voor dialogen in meerdere talen: Engels, Spaans, Nederlands, Frans, Duits, Deens, Pools, Italiaans en Russisch.

We slaan geen persoonlijke gegevens op. Om onze software te laten werken genereren we een unieke ID voor elke gebruiker die volledig willekeurig is, en slaan een cookie op uw apparaat op zodat u verder kunt gaan als u de verbinding verliest.
Alle deelnemers krijgen door het systeem een willekeurige identificatiecode. We weten niet wie iemand is. Wat we wel weten is wat elk codenummer deed, zodat we patronen kunnen zoeken die gerelateerd zijn aan segmenten.
